Hey folks, don’t stop at:

          1)       Believe it’s (a shot) going in...

                   or

          2)       Believe you can win (as in Hooper On The Bus).

They are not what believe is all about.

Believe is bigger.

A shot going in and winning a game using believe are only stepping stones to a bigger B.

The big B covers everything.

Once Hoopers’ know the Power of Believe through such minor things as scoring a foul shot, or winning a game, teach them that’s not what believe is all about.  Teach them believe is about one thing and one thing only...believing in yourself.  

Believing in yourself opens life's doors.

Believe positively.

Believe deeply...work hard toward your believe...when you do

• foul shots (usually) go in
• games are (usually) won
• life becomes a positive self-fulfilling prophecy

Final Word:

Hoopers will realize believe doesn't always work.  You don't have to tell them this.

Believing sure does help though.

Addendum:

Believe finally reaches home.

This time it's not me that's crazy.

During our games, you'll hear Hoopers calling "Believe" to each other.

When this happens...I can't help smiling.  Believe has sunk home.

I must have got the message across in some bumbling way.

Eureka!

I love my Hoopers.

They make life worth living.

Coaching Moment:

A believe variation...

You've not yet taught believe...

Your team's going into a difficult game...

They're tense...

So tense you know they'll throw anything at the basket from anywhere...

All you need to stress to them is a simple concept...

When you analyze this bit of dialogue, you'll see you really are asking your Hoopers to shoot only shots they BELIEVE they can make.  You're putting the positive force on your side.
