Basketball Gym Rules These Gym Rules are made not to restrict our fun but to provide for 1) safety for yourself and others, 2) the care of the rented gym facilities, and 3) include the rules of the School and it's Board, where they apply. Remember the fun in basketball is in the game itself. 1.
No food
in gym. 2.
No drinks
in gym other than water in tightly capped water bottles.
(This includes Gatorade and other “sugared sport drinks and any
drink, including water, in glass bottles.) 3.
Footwear: Proper gym shoes must be worn at all times. Shoes must be ties TIGHTLY at all times when playing.
Failure to change from street shoes to designated gym
Absolutely no street footwear is acceptable. 4.
Suitable
gym clothing will be worn at all times. 5.
Exits
must be kept free of all obstructions at all times. 6.
No hanging
from rims. (Except when someone undercuts
you when executing a dunk. Only
then is hanging from rims acceptable as it is a safety issue.) 7.
Balls
will be stored in ball bags or in Hoops
Room when games are being played. 8.
Floors
will be swept before
play begins when dusty/ dirty to avoid anyone slipping or getting
hurt.
10.
Rearranged
gym equipment and facilities must be returned to original position prior
to vacating the gym. 11.
No alcoholic
liquids or beverages are allowed in the building or on the grounds. 12.
Smoking is prohibited in the building and on the grounds. 13. Illegal drugs are prohibited in the building and on the grounds. 14.
Racist,
sexist, obscene language, verbal and physical abuse, including swearing
are not permitted by Board policy on school grounds. 15. Horseplay and similar behaviours endangering others is prohibited. 16. All activities in gym must abide by the Upper Grand District School Board's Violence (Free School) Policies on A) threats, B) possession of, or C) use of weapons. 17. People with casts on arms, wrists, etc. can practice basketball individually. Casts are banned from all game like activities for safety of all involved. 18. Balls
are allowed in the gym. Balls are not to be taken into change rooms
or into the school hallways. |
