Erin Hoops is a non-profit, community based organization. It is only through community support and the help of volunteers that Erin Hoops is able to offer an affordable basketball program.

Erin Hoops

Mission

To provide a skills oriented, participatory quality basketball program that  exemplifies and fosters good sportsmanship and a love of basketball in a healthy, safe competitive atmosphere.

To help children/youth in the Hillsburgh/Erin area to value active participation, and make a lifelong commitment to a healthy active life style.

Erin Hoops

Purpose

To Stress "Believe In Yourself"

AND

To Help every child realize her/his potential ON and OFF the court.

Erin Hoops is open to all people who want to play basketball.

Fees to all programs and activities are kept to a minimum, just covering costs.

Erin Hoops strives for quality of activity rather than quantity of people. This means Hoops is not pushing for high numbers of participants. Its emphasis is on the development of excellence in children's ability to play basketball.

ê

Number One

ê                                     ê

Hoops Rule

ê  Erin Hoops should be          ê

fun

for all Participants, Coaches,

ê    Players, and Volunteers         ê

ê

Erin Hoops youth programs are non-competitive.  Most games are played without a score being kept.  (Obviously no standings for teams are kept either.)  Games are played for FUN, learning to play better, and the intrinsic fun of the game of basketball.

It is never to late.  Anyone can join almost any appropriate program at any time, as long as numbers of people involved are less than the maximum.

Hoops is a community base program run totally by volunteers in such a way as to provide basketball opportunities for all in the community.

Residents in Group Homes, from homes on welfare and families drawing from the local EWAG Foodshare Program are all admitted free to any Erin Hoops program in which they wish to partake.

Children or any Erin Hoops player may be challenged to:

never give up/never quite

try their hardest

do their best

believe in themselves

have fun

learn and develop

Sportsmanship is stressed.

Winning is not part of the Hoops' Philosophy. Basketball is played for fun and learning in Hoops.

Naturally the skills of basketball are stressed.

Fees are a deterrent to participation.

Basketball must be kept affordable for everyone.
