Program

Overview

Kinderball is not about playing and shooting a basketball.

Kinderball is about handling, throwing, manoeuvring, bouncing, and what-not of a smallish type of basketball. Much of what is done works on developing ball-hand-eye-body-co-ordination while having fun.

6 year olds can play in Kinderball or the 6 to 8 year old group. If your child is 6, you can make this age group decision based on (1) your child's desire to actually play basketball which occurs in the older grouping (limited desire to play basketball should put her/him in the younger group) and (2) children 6 years old with high self-esteem/confidence and sport minded can also easily move up into the older grouping (remember/ consider 6 year olds playing with 8 year olds could discourage the younger person due to lack of apparent ability.) Purpose

To develop ball handling skills in children through creative ball play.

This program is NOT about basketball as such.

It is primarily about ball handling.

When

Saturday Mornings from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Season starts - Sat. Oct. 16, 2004

(The weekend after Thanksgiving)

Season ends - May 14, 2005

Parents

Parents of children in this program are asked to stay and help the Hoops' Coaches control the 'kids' as children at this age have yet to learn to follow coaching directions easily. (Besides it is your kid and you might like to know and share first hand in what your child is experiencing.)

Cost

FREE. (Donations are necessary, in lieu of a registration fee , to help keep basketball supremely affordable for everyone.)
