Patrick: I am speechless! What an awesome site! It makes me wish I wasn’t so out of shape and could play basketball! I have just spent the last hour exploring your whole site and I must say, I am really impressed both with your programs and your web-savvy! I am rather embarrassed to say that even though I have known you had lots of things going with basketball, I did not know the extent of the programs. Your site opened my eyes to the depth of your passion for the game and to the youth of our community. My son XXXX is not very interested in athletics much to my dismay. He tried BB a few years ago but lost interest after one or 2 seasons. I have suggested that he check it out again a few times but so far he is rather busy with other activities at the school, as well as his part time job. However, perhaps with a bit of prodding, perhaps he would consider it if his mother weren't the one suggesting it! Whenever you see him, just mention it to him that he should check it out again. Ditto for my daughter YYYY. She is nuts for Soccer, which is great, but she really enjoyed the sessions you gave at Brisbane and I would really like her to get involved with the basketball team at the high school when she goes there. If she had some skills she would probably feel more confidants to try out. I suggested it to her but since none of her friends are into it, she isn't interested. So when you see her, please tell her to join! That will mean more to her than if it comes from me. Patrick, I understand it has been tough for you to get the full co-operation you need from the powers that be, to keep your programs running full time but I’m sure time will see everything work out in favor of the youth who need and enjoy this wonderful activity. You are such a wonderful member of this community, giving so much to both children and adults to give them new skills and self-confidence while encouraging physical fitness. You probably don't hear it
as often as you should as "volunteers" are usually the
thankless workers in a community, but I certainly want to "Thank
you" for all your work with HOOPS and giving the kids of our
community a healthy outlet for their energy.
You are a rare jewel! (I bet you haven't been called that this
week!) :))) Sincerely, An Erin Parent Hoops made no reply to this letter. It speaks for itself. |

Dear Patrick: |
Tuesday, July 24, 2001 8:34 PM Hey Pat The amount of time and effort you put in to provide summer BBall for anyone so inclined is much appreciated. It allows the general population to shake off the most apparent rust, and in my case re-establish a once proficient shot. The many challenges you provide (i.e., free throw contests etc...) provide the training needed to become proficient at the necessities of the game. Once again thanks, and if at all possible could you place my free-throw total on the web sit soon.
By Aug. 1, 2001 the count on visitors had passed 400. This figure translates into 100 visitors a month or over 3 per day. Thanks folks for making this an active and alive site. |
